Roadbase Recycled DGB20 is a RMS (Roads and Maritime Services) 3051 certified roadbase. As this roadbase comprises crushed brick and concrete, the cementicious properties of the concrete make the ability to achieve high rates of compaction, relatively easy. More information can be found in our video.
Roadbase as the name alludes to is different sizes of aggregates mixed together in specific percentages of sizes. This is to achieve a mix that when compacted achieves a stable base for use under roads or where the existing surface is boggy or spongy. A common use is under paving (at 100mm thickness of roadbase & 30mm coarse sand directly under the pavers). Another common use is as a cross over on building sites to make sure trucks do not track clay or dirt on to the council roads. Councils apply heavy fines to builders where trucks track sediment from building sites to council roads. Stabilizing with cement or lime improves the performance of the roadbase and its ability to compact and longevity.
